PM contempt case hearing adjourned till Feb 1

A seven-member Bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday gave 12 days to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani for submitting his detailed reply in the contempt of court case regarding the non-implementation on the NRO judgement and adjourned the hearing till February 1.

A seven-judge Bench of the apex court, presided over by Justice Nasirul Mulk on the request of Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, the counsel of Prime Minister Gilani, adjourned the hearing till February 1.

The court also exempted the Prime Minister to appear before the court in person on the next hearing as Prime Minister Gilani appeared before the court Thursday in accordance with the notice, issued to him by the seven-member Bench in the contempt of court case.
Prime Minister Gilani is the third prime minister in political and democratic history of Pakistan who is appearing in the Supreme Court in the contempt notice as Shaheed Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also appeared before the Apex court in such notices.
Gilani appeared before the seven-member bench of the Supreme Court to face contempt notice on the issue of re-opening of cases under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
Gilani announced his decision to appear before the court in his address to the National Assembly on Monday.
