Matar palao

Ingredients : for 4 servings

  • 1 mug of Pakistani basmati rice
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbs salt
  • 4 soup spoon of oil
  • 1/2 mug of fresh green peas
  • 1/2 tbs of cumin seeds (zeera)
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick (darchini)
  • 2 and a half mugs of water

Recipee :

  • Soak the rice for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a large pan. Add the cumin seeds and the onion finely chopped.
  • When the onion are golden brown add half mug of water, salt, green fresh peas, cloves and cinnamon.
  • Now cook the mixture until the water reduce and the oil is separate.
  • Add the remaining water, when it boil add the rice and mix.
  • When the water is absorbed by rice, cover the pan and turn the heat to low.
  • After 5 minutes remove the pan from heat and serve them hot with chicken curry, gosht or raita.
