
President Pervez Musharraf has said that government is committed to promote higher education particularly scientific, engineering and technical education on priority bases.
He was speaking at foundation stone laying ceremony of Education City Campus of the University of Engineering & Technology at Kalashah Kaku near Lahore on Saturday.
He said nine universities of international standard are being set up across the country with the cooperation of foreign countries.
The President said billions of rupees are being spent to enhance the technical skills. Producing engineers, scientists and technical experts is necessary to cope with the future challenges.
Similarly the outstanding students are being awarded scholarships to get education from abroad through Higher Education Commission.
He said it would greatly help in overcoming the shortage and gap of technical experts. He called upon the students to concentrate their maximum attention on the education and refrain from indulging politics.
The President also inaugurated the special eyes cardiac center of Combined Military Hospital in Lahore.
The President accompanied by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also visited various sections of the cardiac center and appreciated efforts involved in bringing this dream to reality.
