Chaudhry Brothers, Musharraf discuss constitutional package, Zardari’s interview

PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi held an important meeting with President Pervez Musharraf at Awan-e-Sadr on Saturday.

During the meeting both sides discussed overall political situation of the country, constitutional package and the recent interview of PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.

Sources quoted President Musharraf has said that he is the constitutional President and is fulfilling his constitutional responsibilities.

He said that he did not interfere in government affairs and have no intention to do so.

President wished to maintain reconciliatory atmosphere which could help strengthen democracy and resolution of people’s problems.

Musharraf also discussed the constitutional package consisting of curtailment of his powers, restoration of deposed judges and other issues with the Chaudhry brothers.

It was also decided to make contacts with the allies of PML-Q and arrange their meeting with the President immediately so that PML-Q could be able to block the passage of the constitutional package in the Senate.

The matters of PML-Q also discussed at the meeting.
