Five-man squad of British investigation agency Scotland Yard arrived in Pakistan on Friday and have started their investigation by inspecting the crime scene near Liaquat Bagh. Their arrival has deepened the conspiracy theories of Benazir’s killing.

Pakistan’s interior ministry has held al-Qaeda militants responsible for this cowardly act and owed her death to an accidental head wound sustained as she ducked for cover as a gunman opened fire on her motorcade. Though, in some recently released videos her hair has been showed moving up as a result of some gunshot from the front, but no official statement have followed so far.

Benazir’s party aides who were by her side at the time say she died from a gunshot to the head. Her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, refused to allow an autopsy before she was buried, saying “we know how she died.”

The PPP has demanded a UN probe into Benazir’s assassination similar to the one into the murder of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri in 2005, but the government has ruled out such an investigation.
